Distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) are essential components for the development of optoelectronic devices such as light emitting diodes, exciton-polariton lasers, and vertical-cavity surface emitting lasers. In general, DBRs were grown on rigid substrates such as silicon and sapphire substrates, meaningthatit is difficult tofabricateflexible devices with DBRs. Therefore, it is very important to fabricate of lift-off DBRs.Relevant research results have been published onApplied Surface Science, with the article title of “Large-area, liftoff nanoporous GaN distributed Bragg reflectors: Fabrication and application”. Ph.D.Yang Xiaokunfrom class 2018is the first author. ProfessorXiao Hongdiisthe corresponding authors. Shandong Universityisthe completed unit.

In this work, by combining different porosifying conditions through potentiostatic modulation or embedding doping design, the group is able to separate and lift off nanoporous GaN DBRs over a macroscopic area (> cm2).The DBR mirror shows high reflectivity (>80%), wide stop-band width (>70 nm). If the luminescent material is grown on this substrate, photoluminescence intensity will present significant enhancement. The proposed DBRs pave the way for developing a range of flexible optoelectronic devices forbroadbandand large-area applications.
